" Von Sentinel Kennels' Nutrition Program"

Here at Von Sentinel Kennels we realize that nutrition plays a very
important part for a healthy and well balanced American Staffordshire
Terrier.  There are many types of dog foods  wet or dry on the market
today.  I have sold most of them ranging from Eukanuba, Canandae, Royal
Canine, Flint River, Solid Gold, and Abady (the best dry food available

today).  Prices ranging from $30.00 to $100.00 for 40 lbs.

Over the years,

we have been able to test these foods with our own dogs (small breeds to
large breeds ranging from 25 lbs to 130 lbs).  Dry puppy  food has too much

protein, which promotes rapid growth and can harm your puppy.

This is not
good for development of their bones.  Low or proper protein will promote
stronger teeth and bones.
If you have one or two dogs, the cost will

probably not be a factor, and any of the above mentioned dry food will

work,  but just like in humans a well balance diet is the best.  We do
encourage the total raw diet, the difference is unbelievable.  Our working

dogs, adult show dogs, and breeding females are maintained on a total raw
diet and we feel that this diet has help us with our success on the
training field, show ring, and whelping box.  We wean our puppies on a

50%

meat and 50% adult dry food, and they do speak for themselves.  Meat is
 the
best source of protein that dogs can assimilate, which does not promote
rapid growth. We also use food stands when feeding our dogs.  Our dogs
 live
long happy lives and we feel that is due to the diet and all the love they
get. These are a few things that we do to support our dogs.
Recommended  books to read:

 1) Give Your Dog A Bone
 2)  Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats The Ultimate Diet
These are wonderful books if you are interested in a new approach for> feeding your American Staffordshire Terrier. Some other foods that we use
include: mackerel, tuna fish, yogurt, cottage cheese,  raw chicken with
bones.   This is not the only way but it works for us and our dogs
 reflects this.
Cheers
